Dive into the Advancements of iPhone 15

If you’re in the market for an iPhone 15 upgrade, here are some things to keep in mind. Rumors are circulating that a dark red color option is coming, and the Dynamic Island feature that was previously Pro-only will now be available on all models.

Another notable change will be the switch to USB-C. This is a welcome move, especially since it can help with charging and data transfer speed.

iOS version

Apple’s latest iPhone OS upgrade, iOS 15, is available for a number of older models. This update increases security, blocks more ad tracking, adds features for remote work, and fixes bugs. Some users have experienced battery issues, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth problems, and a lack of storage space.

Apple typically releases its flagship phones in September, and the iPhone 15 could follow suit. One Weibo poster who correctly floated the cyan iPhone 14 Pro color option suggests that the standard iPhone 15 will adopt a frosted premium finish for its rear glass. He also claims that the basic model will switch to USB-C, upgrading from this year’s Lightning port.

The iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max may get a new Ultra Wideband chip for nearby interactions, a feature that will help Apple’s 2024 VR headset. This chip could integrate with the new Vision Pro.

Another potential change is that the new iPhone 15 could drop its SIM tray in the US, promoting eSIM connectivity. This would be a move in line with other markets where Apple has already made the switch to eSIM, including France and other parts of Europe.

Enhanced night mode photography

The iPhone 15 upgrade is expected to add a new Night mode feature that takes long exposure photos in low-light settings. The photos then process in the background using the A13 Bionic chip to produce a final result with improved dynamic range and sharper details.

This is a great improvement over the current version of the feature, which uses an optical image stabiliser to reduce blurriness but struggles to capture enough detail. The iPhone X was the first to introduce the feature and is still capable of delivering impressive low-light images, but the improvement on the iPhone 15 is notable.

Night mode is activated automatically in low-light settings and users can manually disable it if they prefer not to use it. With iOS 15, it will be possible to turn off Night mode and have it remain off until you specifically enable it again.

To take a photo with the Night mode feature, you simply tap the camera icon in the Camera app and choose between Auto or Max exposure timers. The Auto option determines the exposure time based on the scene, while the Max setting lets you set the length of the shot yourself. A crosshairs icon will appear in the frame if your iPhone detects movement during capture, and you can also set a manual focus point to help reduce motion blur.

Design

Rumors have pointed to the iPhone 15 adopting a design similar to the iPhone 14. If you’re expecting a major redesign, you’ll be disappointed. However, if you’re just looking for a more refined look with a few upgrades, it could be worth upgrading.

One notable change is the move to USB-C. This has been a long-term goal of Apple’s, and it makes sense that they’d adopt it in the iPhone 15.

Another change might be to the volume buttons. One rumor by Ming-Chi Kuo suggested that the Pro models would get solid-state buttons, much like the Home button on the iPhone SE. Kuo claimed that these would replace the physical buttons and deliver a tactile feel via haptics instead. A later set of rumors based on CAD files revealed by ShrimpApplePro suggest that the Pro and Ultra models will have a single, unified volume button, while the non-Pro models will retain two separate buttons and the mute switch.

The rumors about the Pro Max model also point to it getting a more curved display. This is a rumor backed up ip 15 by respected analyst Ross Young. He also tipped the Pro to get a 2,500-nit display, which would be significantly brighter than the 2,000-nit display on the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
